I decided to investigate this "Beyond the Rack" phenomenon that has my girlfriends' panties in a bunch. After a thorough review, I can tell you that this site is for you if you enjoy shopping at home while yelling at your screen, down-talking the fashionista voices that live in your head and elevating your blood pressure. Sure the deals are great, but you have to act fast.
These guys are marketing geniuses, so from a marketing point of view, I can't bash them. Top brands sell their merchandise at ridiculously low prices (makes you wonder, eh?) for a certain period of time. For the most part, it's on for 2 days. You then place things in your basket. Except, they don't stay there. They magically disappear if you don't check out in 10 minutes. By the way, there's a timer that counts down, taunting you.
So you rush to check out because you know that you'll NEVER be able to afford these jeans on your minumum-wage-student-loan-kraft-dinner-budget. So you buy it and get it over with. Then you go back to browse some more. In your frenzy, did you happen to notice the 11$ shipping? Think about it. You order 3 pairs of jeans, rushing to check out everytime. You just paid 30$ in shipping on top of your order. Ouch.
There's also the psychological aspect that they get you on. You don't spend very much time thinking about the purchase because you simply DON'T have the time in some cases. I don't know about you, but when I shop, I'll pick up and put down the same item multiple times before buying. Or in the virtual world, keep it in the shopping cart and contemplate it for an hour (maybe I'm weird?)
My point is, if you are a recovering retail-therapy victim, this is not the site for you. However, if you want to see some incredibly awesome deals on fashion and home style appliances, check out Beyond the Rack. Don't get too excited ladies ;)
